Turkish Lawyers Urge Cancellation of ‘Cash-for-Citizenship’ Scheme

The Bar Association said in a statement that citizenship "expresses a legal and political bond and commitment to the state", and that putting a financial value upon it "has made the concept of citizenship abstract and alienated it from its essence".

38-day-old baby dies from sexual abuse, physical violence in Turkey's Van

A 38-day-old baby in the eastern province of Van has died after being sexually and physically abused, while the mother and two men were arrested over the incident on Jan. 30. 

The baby was taken to hospital in Van's İpekyolu district on Jan. 26 by the mother and the two men.

Operations expected in southeast amid deadly clashes, curfews and exodus

As deadly violence continues in several towns in Turkey's southeast, many schools stayed closed on Dec. 14 as large numbers of people left their homes, amid reports that the security forces were preparing a large-scale operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
