"I anticipate the revocation of medical licenses and urge the Bulgarian Medical Association to intervene in the case of the recording from 'Pirogov,' where emergency room physicians are heard issuing threats against Danae's relatives", stated Minister of Health, Professor Hristo Hinkov in BTV studio.

Dr. Gergana Nikolova from the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA) commented on BNT that the importance of the changes and the significance of preventive check-ups lie not only in prevention but also in the opportunity to increase access to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for the detection of more serious diseases in early stages.

Health Minister Hristo Hinkov raised critical points at the 6th National Congress of the Bulgarian Medical Association, highlighting Bulgaria's leading position in Europe's mortality rates. He emphasized a concerning 2-3% disparity above the EU average in child mortality rates, despite a decline.

"The situation in our country and Europe shows that the pandemic is far from over. I don't know how or why this decision was taken, but there has to be a new structure for managing the coronavirus crisis," said President of the Bulgarian Medical Association Dr Ivan Madzharov commenting on the disbandment of the National Operational Headquarters (NOHQ).

Nearly 30,000 vaccines have been administered in Bulgaria in the three days since Prime Minister Boyko Borissov ordered that "green lanes" should open for anyone willing to be inoculated against the coronavirus.  The authorities report the public is showing a strong interest in getting vaccinated.

There are no side effects of the vaccine, Dr. Nikolay Branzalov, Vice-President of Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA) told Nova TV. He himself got vaccinated and said he did not feel pain.

The Bulgarian Medical Association and the Health Insurance Fund have signed National Framework Agreement for 2020 - 2022. According to it, at least 50% of revenues of the medical establishments will go for salaries. The step was made by Healthcare Minister Kiril Ananiev in talks with protesting nurses. The new rule would also apply to private hospitals.

More than BGN 200 million will be allocated for hospital care from 2020, the government announced on October 7 after a meeting at the Council of Ministers with the trade union CITUB and the Health Minister Kiril Ananiev, amid a national protest by medical professionals, BNT reported.
