Bulgaria's Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov called on businessman Vasil Bozhkov to pay his debt to the state to the tune of EUR 359 million in unpaid taxes. Minister Goranov said that Vasil Bozhkov, to whom 11 indictments have been raised, including trading in influence and unlawful possession of cultural values, is another Bulgarian who is fleeing from justice.

The Bulgarian National Assembly adopted on a second reading the proposals of the leader of the National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria for amendments to the Gambling Act which bans private lotteries in this country, BNR reported.

The Bulgarian army should not be used for political purposes, this country's Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov said, BNR reported.

Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev on December 20 met with Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock, who is on a visit to Sofia to mark 30 years since Bulgaria's renewal of membership in the international organisation.

The businessman Nikolai Banev and his wife Evgenia were detained in France with a European arrest warrant. This is another business family against which a large-scale investigation is being conducted, reports BNT. 

A large-scale operation is under way on the territory of Bulgaria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, to neutralize an organized criminal group operating on the territory of the five countries and illegally transfer foreign nationals from the countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan to European Union countries, reported Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office .

The daughter of former banker Tsvetan Vasilev, Radoslava Vasileva, is charged with money laundering. A prosecutor's decree was issued for her detention in the period of 72 hours. This is what Vassilev's wife Antoaneta Vassileva said in an open letter to President Rumen Radev, published on the website of the former head of the bankrupt KTB Bank, reports SEGA. 

The Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office and the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime on 12h of june identified a supermodern greenhouse for growing marijuana in an apartment in the coastal city of Burgas, reported BNT.

Six people have been arrested on allegations of organized crime group for drug production and distribution.
