20% Of BG Teenagers Believe Drinking Improves Driving Skills

Almost 20% of Bulgaria's teenagers between 16 and 18 years think that drinking alcoholic beverages improves one's driving skills, reports Mediapool.bg, quoting a survey of the BluePoint agency.

At the same time, 70% of those who had their driving licenses temporarily revoked for driving under the influence, continue to drink and drive.

Teachers Urge Parents To Donate, Instead Of Buying Flowers

The teachers in the Shumen school "Sava Dobroplodni" urged parents to donate the money they are going to spend on flowers to the residents in the flooded areas of Bulgaria. 

It is traditional in Bulgaria for the school children to bring flowers for their teachers on the first day of school, September 15. 

424 Refugee Children in Bulgaria Unable to Go to School

Out of a total of over 520 refugee children living in Bulgaria, only 96 will go to school in the new school year, according to the State Agency for Refugees.

A total of 424 refugee children will not be able to attend classes as of September 15, despite the assurances of Bulgarian authorities of a swift solution of the problem, according to reports of Sega daily.

Bulgaria's Flood-Stricken Mizia Suffers from Water Shortage

The town of Mizia, where low-lying parts are still under water after last week's flash flood, is already facing scarcity of drinking water, authorities warn.

Drainage is being carried out for a seventh consecutive day in the town, and special pumps are used to take away water and mire, as Mizia's own drainage system is clogged with mud, alongside streets, yards and houses.

Bulgarian Red Cross Starts Donations Drive For Flood Victims In Mizia

The Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) urges the business and the retail chains to donate bottled water and packaged non perishable food for the flood victims in the Vratsa region. 

BRC volunteers are already at the site and hand out food and water to the affected people in the town of Mizia. It also delivered blankets and bedsheets.
