Bulgaria Detains 37 Illegal Migrants at Danube Bridge

The Bulgarian authorities detained on Tuesday a group of 37 illegal immigrants at the Danube Bridge border checkpoint.

Among the detained people were women, children and a pregnant woman, BGNES news agency reports.

The illegal immigrants were hidden in a TIR truck with a Turkish licence plate, driven by a Romanian citizen.

Bulgarian Red Cross Raising Funds to Help Quake-Hit Nepal People

The Bulgarian Red Cross has joined the emergency appeal launched by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to help the people in Nepal affected by the devastating earthquake on 25 April.

A man hit by an avalanche in Bulgaria's Pirin Mountain on Wednesday has been retrieved alive from under the snow piles.

Vasil Cholakov, 37, a Bulgarian national living in Sofia, has suffered a chest trauma and has been sent to a medical centre in the town of Bansko, according to the head of the Bulgarian Red Cross Hristo Grigorov, who was on the site.

The search and rescue operation for three boys who got lost in the Rila Mountain has been temporarily suspended due to the extremely difficult weather conditions.

A part of the rescue team got submerged by snow following an avalanche, according to Hristo Grigorov, President of the Bulgarian Red Cross.
