Central Port Authority of Chios

On Wednesday, September 18th, the Central Port Authority of Chios was informed about a speedboat with foreign passengers moving in the sea area of Nenita, coming from the Turkish coast. A Coast Guard patrol boat was dispatched to the scene, where the speedboat’s operator performed dangerous maneuvers to avoid capture.

A Hellenic Coast Guard vessel rescued 17 migrants in the eastern Aegean on Wednesday and safely transferred them to the port of Chios, where they were to undergo a registration procedure at the VIAL detention center.

A preliminary investigation has been launched by the Central Port Authority of Chios.
