The recent surge in gastroenteritis cases on Greece's southernmost island of Gavdos was caused norovirus and is not linked to the water supply, according to laboratory test results from the microbiology labs at Chania Hospital, as reported on Wednesday.

Three people died and one was seriously injured when their car crashed into a mini van in the Chania area of Crete on Saturday morning.

There were four passengers in the car, three men and one woman aged 18-23, when it hit a mini van carrying 19 tourists at the Galata junction of the Northern Road Axis of Crete (BOAK).

A 53-year-old French man was killed and his wife critically injured in a road accident Thursday in the Chania area of Crete, where the couple was on holiday. 

The man's rented car collided head-on with another vehicle at the exit of Vrysses village in Apokoronas.

The incident took place in the courtyard of the Church of Agios Nikolaos in Galatas, Chania, when a firecracker detonated in his hand.
