Maryia Garbiel Leads GERB’s List for the Upcoming European Elections

Maryia Garbiel, Bulgaria's current European Commissioner, leads GERB's list for the European elections, reports BNT. 

At a forum in the National Palace of Culture on 31st of March, GERB (majority partner in the ruling coalition) announced the list of candidates for the elections for members of the EP.

Bulgaria Parties Mull Joint Stance on EU Presidency

Bulgaria's centre-right GERB party, which came first in general elections held on March 26, and the Bulgarian Socialist Party, which finished second, will meet to discuss the priorities of Bulgaria's six-month presidency of the European Council, starting on January 1, 2018, GERB's press office confirmed to BIRN.

GERB - United Patriots Мeeting Held in Sofia

GERB party, which won the early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria and the United Patriots coalition - National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria, VMRO and Ataka - held a meeting in Sofia, according to BNR.

After the meeting, VMRO leader Krasimir Karakachanov commented that there are no negotiations on the formation of a new cabinet as yet and that such talks are yet to be held.

Bulgaria's veteran politician Borisov seeks third time lucky

Bulgaria's veteran political bruiser Boyko Borisov has begun efforts to form a lasting government and become prime minister for the third time following his election victory. 

His pro-EU center-right GERB party won the snap election in the European Union's poorest country with 32.6 percent of the ballot.

Alpha Research: 2.6 % Lead for GERB Over BSP

The most recent study of Alpha Research Group sociological agency forecasts a gap of 2.6 percent between GERB and Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) in the upcoming early parliamentary elections, according to BNR.

31.7 percent of those who have decided to vote would cast their ballot for GERB, while 29.1 percent say they would vote for BSP.

GERB Leading on BSP If Bulgaria Held Elections Today - Poll

Five parties would make it to the Bulgarian Parliament in the event of a hypothetical election, a survey shows less than six weeks out of a parliamentary vote due in March.

In a poll by Trend Research Center, commissioned by 24 Chasa, Boyko Borisov's GERB party is maintaining a narrow lead on the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) of Korneliya Ninova.
