A proposed bill by the Ministry of Labor and Social Politics has sparked controversy by suggesting that the minimum wage in Bulgaria should only increase in line with inflation. Although the bill has not yet been made available for public discussion, its contents were revealed through a strong statement from the Confederation of Labor "Podkrepa" on their website.

The Bulgarian government has unveiled its ambitious plan for the 2024 budget: a minimum 5% real wage growth, matching the projected inflation rate. This bold move was the central theme of a recent high-level meeting, which saw Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov and Finance Minister Asen Vassilev engage with trade unions to chart a course for the country's fiscal future.

KNSB and Confederation of Labor "Podkrepa" will celebrate Labor Day and international workers' solidarity with a series of different events. Among them are a blockade of a key intersection, a procession and a concert in the capital. In this way, unions will send messages for higher incomes, safe and healthy working conditions, and a just energy transition.

The social partners are launching joint actions on electricity prices. Today, 15 January 2018, a workshop was held between the heads of nationally representative organizations and employees and employers united in the "4 + 2" format.
