President Rumen Radev has begun consultations with representatives of parliamentary groups in the 47th National Assembly to hand over a mandate to form a new government within the current parliament. He welcomed the representatives of GERB for talks.

With 170 votes "In favor", parliament accepted Democratic Bulgaria's proposal to give a mandate to the Council of Ministers to accept the French presidency's proposal for North Macedonia.

Another early parliamentary election seems increasingly likely after the overthrow of Kiril Petkov's government, and the earliest realistic date for this is set for September 25, according to unofficial comments from the main parliamentary forces.

At the suggestion of DPS and GERB and with the support of "There Is Such a People" and "Vazrazhdane", the meeting of the parliamentary commission, which was to hear Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska on the French proposal for negotiations with North Macedonia, was postponed.

Representatives of GERB together with the chairman of the party Boyko Borissov gave a statement to the media.

"The text of the French proposal for a negotiating framework with the RNM is very good", said former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

"We would not have received the French proposal, which is the best so far if Bulgaria had not vetoed two enlargement councils last year with a clear position and argument".

The regular sitting of the National Assembly failed after three unsuccessful attempts to establish a quorum in the plenary hall.

The three attempts proved unsuccessful after the deputies from GERB-SDS, DPS, "There Is Such a People" and "Vazrazhdane" did not enter the plenary hall for registration.

With reinforced security and gendarmerie with heavy equipment in the National Assembly, the debates on the requested vote of no confidence in the government of Kiril Petkov began.

The perimeter of the fences has been extended to St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

"The proposals of the French Presidency are the best so far, I'm not just talking about Bulgaria - they are the fairest. (...) Let it be clear: we really have progress for a change in the constitution of North Macedonia and the entry of Bulgarians into the document, which I have been insisting on for a long time. It is already accepted for this to happen".

"The topic of North Macedonia was brought up today to distract attention. The news of the day is that the Interdepartmental Commission of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works discovered illegal constructions worth BGN 2.5 billion, and this money had to be paid through the budget increase requested by the regional ministry."
