In an address to the nation on Tuesday, Radev called on the new parliament which will start work on April 19 to take steps to prevent the recurrence of what he called "significant problems" at snap elections last month.

With 94.77% of ballot protocols outside Bulgaria having been processed, Radev has won 52.04% of the overall expat vote, while his opponent Tsetska Tsacheva has received some 43.75%, the Central Election Committee (CEC) says.

As Bulgarians are heading to the polls on Sunday, they will vote for President based on what they saw and heard in five weeks of campaigning.

Support from parties and candidates who fared well in the election's first round, however, may also play a part in this decision as some of these have endorsed or indicated preference for either of the candidates.

Voters in some ethnically mixed areas of Southern Bulgaria have told the public broadcaster that some inhabitants are receiving "instructions" before going to the polls to cast ballots for president.

A delegation of DOST party, led by its chair Lyutvi Mestan, held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, the party's press office has said.

Key DOST members accompanying Mestan included Shabanali Ahmed, Hyusein Hafazov and Aydoan Alo.
