Jobless total hits all-time low

Slovenia's joblessness fell to a new all-time low in March. The Employment Service registered 50,327 people as being out of work, 5.8% fewer than in February and 16.9% fewer than a year ago.

The unemployment register added 4,321 newly unemployed people in March, which is on a par with the figure a year ago but 1.6% fewer than in February.

Slovenia’s jobless total falls below 54,000

Ljubljana – Slovenia’s registered jobless total fell to 53,935 in August, close to the record low figure recorded in June this year. The figure was down by 0.7% from July and 22.2% lower than in August 2021, according to the Employment Service. The number of people freshly registered for being out of a job was down by just over a fifth compared to July but up by 3% year-on-year.

Jobless total drops below 56,000

Ljubljana – Slovenia’s jobless total stood at 55,854 in May, down 3.8% from April and 25.7% from the year before. This is the lowest figure since 1990, the Employment Service said on Friday.

Just under 4,000 were registered as newly unemployed in May, down 5.5% compare to April, the majority because their fixed-term contracts expired.

Employment outlook for next six months positive, staff shortage an issue

Ljubljana – The outlook for employment in the second half of the year is positive, as employers have forecast a 3.2% increase in the number of employees, the highest growth since 2014, and plan around 43,000 jobs. On the other hand, discrepancies in the labour market are increasing and employers are finding it difficult to find staff.

Record demand for workers in January-March

Ljubljana – Employers registered over 46,480 job vacancies with the Employment Service in the first three months of the year, which is 42.5% more than in the same period last year. The demand is record high since this methodology was introduced in 2014, and is strongest in healthcare, IT, education, construction, transport and hospitality.

Decline in unemployment stops as youth hit job market

Ljubljana – The unemployment in Slovenia stopped dropping in October for the first time since February, Mitja Bobnar, the head of the Employment Service, told the STA in an interview. However, the reason is not the expiry of subsidies for shorter working hours but first-time job seekers, he explained. Bobnar expects the situation in the labour market to remain favourable.

Slovenia’s joblessness declines further

Ljubljana – Slovenia’s jobless total fell further in September with only 66,122 people registered with the Employment Service, 4.6% fewer than the month before and a fifth (21.1%) fewer than a year ago.

The service registered 4,616 newly unemployed in September, a fifth more than in August and 29% fewer than a year ago.
