Ship to serve as ‘floating school’ for quake-hit students

A ship called "Karadeniz Lifeship Rauf Bey" will serve as a "floating school" for students preparing for university and high school entrance exams in the quake-hit region.

The Education Ministry will meet the needs of all quake-stricken students preparing for the exams on the ship that will anchor at Iskenderun Port.

Energy efficiency investments save $372 million last year

Investments of $1.3 billion aimed at energy efficiency helped Türkiye save $372 million in 2021, according to data from the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.

Türkiye launched its National Energy Efficiency Action Plan in 2018, which targets to increase efficiency in buildings, industry, transport, agriculture and other sectors.

Natural gas cuts to industrial zones end: Botaş

Turkey's Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (Botaş) announced yesterday that natural gas cuts to industrial zones would end as of this morning.

In a tweet, the national energy company thanked industrialists "for their understanding and cooperation in this period."

On Jan. 20, Iran halted natural gas flow into Turkey for 10 days due to technical failures on a key pipeline.

Power consumption up 7 percent in January

Turkey's electricity consumption increased by around 7 percent on an annual basis in January, according to the latest data released by the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.

Power consumption reached 28.60 billion kilowatt-hours last month, while electricity production also increased by 6.48 percent to 28.56 billion kilowatt-hours compared to January 2021.
