Violence against women a 'betrayal of humanity': Erdoğan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has denounced violence against women, pledging his government's continued efforts to combat the issue.

"Violence against women is a betrayal of humanity... and an unacceptable vandalism," he said at an event in Ankara marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on Nov. 25.

Family ministry to join case of slain girl

The Family and Social Services Ministry has announced its decision to become involved in the case of the murder of Narin Güran, whose body was discovered weeks after her disappearance in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

The 8-year-old was found dead in a stream just 1 kilometer from her village on the 19th day of her disappearance.

Erdoğan condemns xenophobia after alleged child abuse

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has urged the public to avoid xenophobia after allegations surfaced on June 30 that a Syrian national molested a child in the central city of Kayseri.

"One cannot get anywhere with xenophobia in society," Erdoğan stated at a gathering of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the capital Ankara on July 1.

64 percent of elderly people feel happy, new TÜİK report reveals

Around 64.1 percent of individuals aged 65 and above in Türkiye feel happy, with the proportion of males expressing happiness at 64.9 percent and women at 63.5 percent, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has revealed.

TÜİK and the Family and Social Services Ministry have conducted a survey aimed at developing policies concerning the elderly population in Türkiye.
