Fire: In which areas the danger is very high – Recommendations to citizens
A very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is forecast today, Friday, August 16, in several areas of the country.
According to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the areas prone to fire are:
Fire in Aitoloakarnania under partial control
A wildfire in the Agia Triada forest area of Thermo, Aitoloakarnania, Western Greece, is now partially under control, the Fire Service reported Thursday.
Ground and aerial units have been actively engaged in firefighting efforts since Wednesday.

Attica wildfires: One contained, another still developing
Α wildfire in western Attica has been contained, but another, northeast of Athens, is still developing, the Fire Service's spokesman says.
The fire in Varnava is moving towards Lake Marathon, a major water reservoir supplying Athens.
Fire in Rethymno still raging
Efforts continued late Thursday to combat a large wildfire that has been raging in southern Rethymno, Crete, since Wednesday.
The fire has prompted a series of 112 emergency alerts, leading to the evacuation of at least seven settlements.
A total of 290 firefighters, supported by 20 foot patrol teams and 54 vehicles, were deployed to the scene.

Fire in Hydra: “We threw fireworks into the sea and one of them fell into the forest,” confessed the captain
Significant developments have been recorded in the case of the fire that broke out in Hydra at the end of last June, burning 300 acres of forest.
As protothema.gr reports, the captain of the yacht confessed that he was the one who threw the fireworks that caused the fire.
Greece faces 29 wildfires on Wednesday; Rethymno blaze persists
A total of 29 wildfires broke out across agroforested zones in Greece on Wednesday, according to the Fire Service. Twenty-four of these fires were quickly extinguished, but firefighters are still battling five active blazes.
Greece fights 32 wildfires in 24 hours
Over the past 24 hours, 32 wildfires have broken out across Greece. The Fire Service reports that 29 of these fires have been contained in their initial stages, while efforts continue to control the remaining three.
