Military doctors will receive education at civilian medical schools as part of new regulations introduced after the July 15 failed coup attempt, believed to have been masterminded by the Gülenist movement. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has appointed his personal doctor, Prof. Dr. Cevdet Erdöl, who is also a Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy, as the rector of Turkey?s newly opened Health Sciences University.

Following the government's initiative to open Turkish schools abroad, the Health Ministry is now planning to open hospitals abroad, starting with Somalia and Sudan.
