Reactors at Bulgaria's Kozloduy Nuclear Plant 'among Most Dangerous in Europe'

Reactors at the Kozloduy nuclear power plant in Bulgaria are considered to be among the most dangerous in Europe, a report at German daily Der Tagesspiegel [DE] reads.

It also cites a number of safety concerns raised in 2013 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the global energy watchdog (even though some of the recommendations have been addressed since then).

The Iran question

Six months after the breakthrough deal between Iran and the P5+1 group in July 2015, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency, declared on Jan. 16 that Iran has complied with the initial requirements of the "Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action." As a result, the U.N. sanctions on Iran and its international isolation are ending after several decades.

UN Secretary-General welcomes Iran nuclear deal implementation

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stated today that he welcomed implementation of the Iran nuclear deal as a “significant milestone” hoping that it will boost peace, security and stability in the region.

“This is a significant milestone that reflects the good faith effort by all parties to fulfil their agreed commitments,” Ban Ki-moon said in a statement.
