Kosovo Unveils Statue to First Olympic Gold Medalist Kelmendi
Kosovo Olympic gold medalist Majlinda Kelmendi on Friday attended the unveiling of a bronze statue of herself in judo kit in her hometown of Peje, about 50 miles west of the capital Pristina.
The 30-year-old judoka made history in the Rio 2016 Olympics when she became the first athlete from Kosovo to bring home a gold in the country's first-ever Olympic participation.

Hungarian philosopher Mihaly Vajda said he has returned his honorary doctorate to the University of Debrecen because the school has also awarded honorary title to Russian President Vladimir Putin. "I do not want to be associated in any way with an institution that has proclaimed Vladimir Putin as an honorary citizen," said 82-year-old philosopher on Facebook.

Russian President Vladimir Putin goes to Budapest on Monday to open the World Judo Championship. The invitation came from Prime Minister Viktor Orban, with the two leaders also planning to hold a working meeting, TASS reports.

Judo WC 2014: Andreea Chitu, silver medal in 52 kg category
Romanian athlete Andreea Chitu on Tuesday became the world vice-champion in Judo in the 52 kg category by winning the silver medal in the World Judo Championships held in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, where two years ago she won the European title in the same category.
