VIDEO: First journalist embeds himself in Islamic State

Reporter Medyan Dairieh has become the first journalist to document the inner workings of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), who now refer to themselves as the Islamic State (IS), according to Vice News.

Dairieh spent three weeks embedded with ISIL, “gaining unprecedented access to the group in Iraq and Syria,” according to Vice News.

The Islamic State group warned Monday it would seek to further expand into autonomous Kurdish territory after claiming key towns and areas over the past 48 hours.
      
"Islamic State brigades have now reached the border triangle between Iraq, Syria and Turkey. May God Almighty allow his mujahideen to liberate the whole region," it said in a statement.
      

Islamic State expels thousands in east Syria: NGO

The jihadist Islamic State group has expelled more than 30,000 people from their homes in the eastern Syrian town of Shuheil, a monitoring group said on Sunday.
      
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said IS had "forced out" some 30,000 residents after seizing Shuheil on Thursday from Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front.
