Prosecutor in case into killing of Gezi's youngest victim taken hostage in Istanbul courthouse
Suspected members of the outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) have taken prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz hostage at Istanbul courthouse in connection to the case into the killing of Gezi victim Berkin Elvan.
Gunshots have been heard at the building.
Police informs prosecutor one year after Berkin Elvan's death
The Istanbul Police Department has finally sent the identities of the policemen suspected of shooting dead Gezi protest victim Berkin Elvan, a full year after the 15-year-old passed away following 269 days in a coma.
Elvan was shot with a tear gas canister during a police crackdown on protesters on June 16, 2013, and succumbed to his injuries on March 11, 2014.

Istanbul police detained a man in front of the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul on Feb. 27, after he threatened to detonate a bomb he said he was carrying.
Turkish police sealed off a street outside the consulate after the suspect was detained.

The court accepted on Jan. 13 the prosecutor's demand to arrest Muhittin Zenit and Özkan Mumcu, two police officers on duty at the police department in the Black Sea province of Trabzon when Dink was killed in Istanbul.

An Istanbul court has arrested a policeman involved in the inquiry into the killing of Hrant Dink, the Turkish Armenian journalist.

Police detain six suspects over Istanbul suicide bombing
Six people, including three foreigners, have been detained in relation to the Jan. 6 suicide bomb attack at an Istanbul police station in the touristic area of Sultanahmet.
The suspects were taken to the city's Ça?layan courthouse and were set to be interrogated by public prosecutor Okan Özsoy at anti-terror branch office.
