Very high fire risk on Saturday in Crete and the North & South Aegean regions

Very high fire risk (risk category 4) is predicted tomorrow in the region of Crete and in areas of the North and South Aegean regions, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection.

Specifically, a very high risk of fire tomorrow is predicted for the following areas:

The weather seems to have gone mad, as while almost all over the country yesterday the mercury had “hit red” with several areas seeing 40s, in Ioannina within two hours the temperature dropped 16ᵒC and the humidity reached 99%, while the storm that hit the area knocked down trees and columns.

A heat wave that started yesterday and will continue at least until the weekend with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, meteorologists predict. The high temperatures will also be accompanied by winds which increases the risk of fire.
