Bulgaria is completely ready for the Presidency of the Council of the EU and the first meetings from the calendar have already begun, one of which was the visit of EP President Antonio Tajani, the Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, Lilyana Pavlova, told journalists in Plovdiv on 28th of November, as reported by the Bulgarian National Television.

Bulgarian Students Won Medals at the International Olympiad for Chemistry in Thailand

Bulgarian Team have won one gold and three bronze medals at the 49th International Chemistry Olympics in Nakon Pathom, Thailand, the Ministry of Education and Science reported.

The gold medal is for Peter Hristov - a student in the XI grade of the Sofia Paisii Hilendarski Mathematics High School.

Funding for Rozhen Observatory Not Included in Budget 2017

Scientists from the National Observatory in Rozhen, who have had problems with funding their work for years, are hoping to get BGN 550,000 in the beginning of 2017, according to Dnevnik.bg

Although these funds have been promised, they are not included in the draft budget for 2017, approved at first reading last week.

Education Minister Opposes Multiplication of Universities

"The Ministry of Education and Science will not tolerate an increase in the number of higher-education places. We must ensure the quality of higher education and this will be impossible if, in a situation where there are not enough students, universities continue to expand and multiply," stated Education Minister Meglena Kuneva.
