Positivity rate nears 40% as almost 3,000 new cases recorded
Ljubljana – Slovenia recorded 2,985 new coronavirus cases on Friday, the second highest daily figure in the current wave, as more than 39% of all PCR tests came back positive, show data by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).
Over 2,600 coronavirus cases, ten deaths reported for Wednesday
Ljubljana – Another 2,631 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Wednesday, an increase of more than 40% from the week before, as hospitalisations increased further above 500 and ten more Covid patients died, official figures show. The test positivity rate remained high with 36% of the PCR tests returning positive yesterday, shows data released by the government.
Over 3,000 coronavirus cases logged for Tuesday
Ljubljana – Slovenia reported another 3,166 coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the highest daily figure since 5 January, as 38% of the PCR tests came back positive, official data shows. Estimates by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) show the number of active cases in the country thus increased by almost 2,000 on the day before to 22,188.

Monday brings near ten-month high in Covid cases, positivity rate spike
Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 2,292 new coronavirus infections on Monday, the highest daily case total since early January. More than a third of all PCR tests came back positive. The estimate of active cases in the country has topped 20,000, according to the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).
Positivity rate almost 34% on Sunday as Covid spike persists
Ljubljana – A total of 707 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Slovenia on Sunday, almost double of the figure from a week ago, while the positivity rate also increased on a daily basis, rising from 33.5% to almost 34%, reported the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).
Week-on-week coronavirus case count more than doubles to 1,500
Ljubljana – Almost 1,500 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Slovenia on Saturday in what is an increase of 138% week-on-week, while the positivity rate increased on a daily basis by more than three percentage points to 33.5%, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) reported.
Covid cases climb to highest total in more than nine months
Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 2,270 coronavirus infections on Friday in what is a near ten-month high. The test positivity rate stood at 30.2%, show fresh official data. Another seven people with Covid died.

Ljubljana – Slovenia’s death toll from Covid-19 has passed 5,000 with the national public health chief warning that many of the fatalities in recent months have been unnecessary as there have been enough vaccines.

Nine-month high of over 2,000 new coronavirus cases recorded
Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 2,145 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the highest daily number of confirmed infections since 12 January, according to data by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ). The share of positive tests stood at 29.1%, and another nine patients with Covid-19 died.
Autumn brings early outbreak of respiratory infections
Ljubljana – The season of respiratory infections in children is in full swing, having kicked in earlier than in previous years. There is an uptick in young children who need hospital treatment, including in intensive care. One of the reasons is that respiratory viruses circulated at very low levels during the epidemic due to anti-coronavirus measures.
