National Security Council

Greece's "provocative" actions, rhetoric and efforts for armament will not provide any benefit beyond increasing the tension in the region, a National Security Council (MGK) statement said on Jan. 25.

Türkiye will not allow any sort of fait accompli that targets its national security and interests, the council said following a meeting at the helm of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

As the political crisis in Cyprus escalated in 1964, Turkey's National Security Council decided that it would invade the island and ordered preparatory actions. The United States immediately intervened and on June 5, 1964, president Lyndon B. Johnson sent a letter to Turkish premier Ismet Inonu to prevent the invasion.

According to Raki, Vui will address the media after the session of the National Security Council, which begins immediately after the meeting of the President of Serbia with Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija.

The National Security Council session is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., and prior to that, Aleksandar Vui will meet with the representatives of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, and that meeting is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
After that, an address to the media is planned.

The White House said Thursday that Iranian troops are "directly engaged on the ground" in Crimea supporting Russian drone attacks on Ukraine's power stations and other key infrastructure, claiming it has troubling evidence of Tehran's deepening role assisting Russia as it exacts suffering on Ukrainian civilians just as the cold weather sets in.

Asked to comment on the statements that the north of Kosovo and Metohija is not ruled by Serbia but by Pristina, Aleksandar Vui said that he thought that things in the international order were based on respect for norms and signed documents. "Now I understand that they are based on someone's desire to rule over someone and something," he added.
