Plan for addicts to farm way out of substance abuse
In a first for Greece, a farm exclusively for substance abusers, who will be able to work in agriculture as part of their drug addiction program to gain skills they can use after they "graduate," is being planned by the Health Ministry.
Safe facility for drug users saves over 120 lives
Marking a year since the opening of Greece's first drug consumption room (DCR), a facility where addicts can use safely in a supervised environment, the Organization Against Drugs (OKANA) on Thursday said that more than 120 lives have been saved thanks to the initiative.

An unexpected visit
Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou participated in the action of the Streetwork group of the Organization Against Drugs (OKANA) in central Athens on Monday. The team distributed safer use kits to drug users on the street as well as a Covid-19 personal protection kit, a snack and clothing.

New Thessaloniki shelter for homeless drug users
Homeless drug users in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, will soon be provided with shelter as part of an initiative by the state-run Organization Against Drugs (OKANA).
According to the plan, drug users will be able to sleep at a short-term hospitality facility where they will also be provided with food and somewhere to have a wash.

Charges brought against OKANA chiefs over finances
A corruption prosecutor on Thursday brought charges relating to financial mismanagement of millions of euros in state funding against the former chairwoman of the Organization Against Drugs (OKANA), Melpomeni Malliori, and against Dimitris Platanias, OKANAs former general manager.
