Obradovic watches Greens thrash his Fenerbahce

The second homecoming of former Panathinaikos coach Zeljko Obradovic, now at Fenerbahce, was not as emotional as last year’s, but it was certainly was the night of an emphatic triumph for the Greens in Athens as they thrashed their Turkish visitors 91-73 to take a leap toward reaching the top 16 of the Euroleague.

There was a triple success for Greek soccer on Thursday as PAOK, Panathinaikos and Asteras Tripolis made it through to the Europa League group stage.

PAOK had a challenging task after a 1-0 defeat in the first leg of its playoff tie to Zimbru Chisinau in Moldova. But the Thessaloniki side made light work of its visitors, winning Thursday's match 4-0.

Arsonists attack Panathinaikos fan club in Athens on opening day of season

Nine people were detained on Sunday after a Panathinaikos supporters’ club in southeastern Athens was attacked.

Assailants threw Molotov cocktails at the building on Vouliagmenis Avenue in Dafni. Nobody was injured.

The attack took place a few hours before Panathinaikos played its opening game in the new Super League soccer season, drawing 0-0 with Levadiakos.

Goalless draw at Liege puts Greens in driving seat

Panathinaikos got the upper hand in the battle for entry to the Champions League playoffs after snatching a goalless draw at Standard Liege on Wednesday.

If anything, the Greek cup holders missed a great chance to score an away win that would have seen them all but through to the last stage before the Champions League groups.
