Complaints of ill-treatment against Turkish police down by 90 pct in two years: Ministry

The number of complaints of torture and ill-treatment filed with the Prime Ministry Coordination Center (BİMER), the Communications Center of the Presidency (CİMER), and other official means against members of the Turkish police forces have declined by 90 percent over the past two years, the Interior Ministry has said in a statement.

Justice Ministry releases contradictory figures on numbers jailed in Turkey

The Justice Ministry recently announced two different figures for the number of prisoners in Turkish jails as of June 15, daily Cumhuriyet reported on Sept. 19.

Turkish court sentences teacher to 82.5 years in prison for sexual abuse after massive efforts by ambitious teacher

A court in the Aegean province of İzmir sentenced a retired elementary school teacher to 82.5 years in prison on July 13 for making six female students between the ages of six and 11 "watch porn" and "sexually abusing" them three years ago while on duty.
