Slovenia to pay €4m for cancelling mega defence deal
The government's decision to cancel a deal on the purchase of armoured personnel carriers closed by the previous government in its dying days will cost Slovenia a little more than €4 million, considerably less than the €70 million some initially thought the cancellation would cost.
Day of remembrance for victims of communism cancelled
Just hours before Slovenia was due to mark National Day of Remembrance for the Victims Communist Violence on 17 May, the government revoked a decree by its predecessors that served as the legal basis for the commemoration, triggering sharp criticism from the right and talk of a "new civil war".
Government reshuffle completed
The Slovenian parliament has endorsed nine ministers in the Robert Golob government, completing a government reshuffle that was needed after the opposition derailed Golob's original plan with a referendum at which it suffered a painful defeat.

Coalition parties, government on ascent in POP TV poll
Ljubljana – The Robert Golob government is entering autumn with the highest approval rating so far and the three coalition parties have made significant gains compared to last month, according to a poll released by POP TV.
MPs meet over healthcare, TV Slovenija bills, repeal of laws
Ljubljana – The National Assembly is meeting on Thursday to pass several high-profile pieces of legislation, including an emergency bill to tackle long wait times in healthcare, a new bill on the public broadcaster and a bill sponsored by an NGO and backed by nearly 15,000 voters that would repeal changes made by the previous government to 11 laws.
Primorske urging govt to sort things out at RTV
Koper – The regional newspaper Primorske Novice says in Tuesday’s commentary that only politics can drive politics out of the media, as it urges the Robert Golob government to do this at RTV Slovenija and then to resist the temptation to exert political pressure itself.

Previous FM Anže Logar to run for president in autumn election
Ljubljana – Previous Foreign Minister Anže Logar announced on Monday he will run for president in the autumn election. He has the support of his party, the opposition Democrats (SDS).
Govt rating at 53% in POP TV poll
Ljubljana – The first monthly approval rating of the Robert Golob government stands at 53.1%, about eight points higher than the rating the Janez Janša government had right after it took office, according to a poll run by POP TV.
Almost a third of respondents, 31.6%, oppose the current government, whereas just over 15% are undecided.

Bad bank replaces two executive directors
Ljubljana – The non-executive directors of the Bank Assets Management Company (BAMC) dismissed Andrej Lazar and Kristina Šteblaj from their positions as BAMC executive directors on Monday and appointed Mitja Križaj and Žiga Pfeifer as acting executive directors to replace them. Meanwhile, Matej Pirc remains an executive director.

Poll: Freedom Movement still ahead despite losing support
Ljubljana – The ruling Freedom Movement is staying in the lead, polling at 33% in the June Vox Populi opinion poll commissioned by the newspapers Dnevnik and Večer. For the first time in two years, the work of the government is viewed as successful, although almost half of respondents remain undecided.
