Romania sacked Brandusa Predescu, the spokeperson of the Foreign Ministry, on Wednesday for mismanaging the printing of a commemorative brochure, which was handed to German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his visit to Romania this week.

The Romanian National News Agency AGERPRES has created until this moment a series of four special brochures, on the occasion of the celebration of 135 years of bilateral diplomatic relations between Romania and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, France and Germany.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin announced here on Tuesday he had proposed the Romanian side to hold a joint sitting of the two countries' governments, an idea that Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu described as 'very good', adding it is worth being implemented no later than this year.

State Secretary for European Affairs with the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) George Ciamba will be attending a meeting of the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels over Dec. 14-15, MAE informs in a release on Sunday.

Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu on Sunday during a meeting with a U.S. House of Representatives visiting delegation led by Congressman Mike Rogers, chairman of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, stressed Romania's interest in deepening the Strategic Partnership with the United States, also noting that Romania and the U.S.

President Traian Basescu on Monday approved the nomination of Bogdan Aurescu for the post of Foreign Minister.

Aurescu, 41, is a career diplomat who has been working for the Romanian Foreign Ministry since 1996. His main achievement was coordinating Romania's team in the case against Ukraine on maritime delimitation in the Black Sea, which was concluded in 2009.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) firmly condemns the terrorist attack that took place this morning that had as a target a synagogue near Jerusalem and which left four dead and eight wounded, a press release of the MAE shows.

Representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Madrid and the Consulate of Castellon de la Plana, in cooperation with Spanish authorities, are checking whether or not there is a 9th person in a recent road accident in Spain that left eight Romanian nationals dead. The 9th person would be the driver, as his family claimed he was in the vehicle.

Romania's Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean on Monday welcomed Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Fatou Bensouda, whom he underscored Romania remaining a staunch supporter of this international jurisdictional body.
