MEP Ioan Mircea Pascu elected S&D coordinator for security and defence
Social Democrat MEP Ioan Mircea Pascu (of the Social Democratic Party, PSD) was elected on Tuesday in Strasbourg the coordinator of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) for the EP Committee on Security and Defence, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
Norica Nicolai elected VP of ALDE Group in European Parliament
Norica Nicolai will be the vice president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) group in the European Parliament. Liberals elected her on Tuesday in Strasbourg upon a proposal by ALDE leader Guy Verhofstadt.
Romanian MEP Adina Valean, EPP candidate for EP vice president
Romanian MEP Adina Valean (of the National Liberal Party, PNL) was elected by the European People's Party (EPP) as candidate, alongside other five MEPs, for vice president of the European Parliament (EP).
The other five candidates of the EPP Group are Rainer Wieland, Antonio Tajani, Ramon Valcarcel, Ildiko Gall and Mairead McGuinness.
Romanian in Bush Family Hacking Scandal Jailed
Marcel Lazar Lehel, a cab driver by profession, was jailed on Friday after attracting global notoriety for hacking into the Bush family’s emails and revealing artwork by the former president, including self-portraits in the bath.
He also hacked the emails of Romanian MEP Corina Cretu, revealing her intimate messages to former US Secretary of State Colin Powell.
