At least 85 people were killed while over 322 others were injured in a stampede that broke out during a charity distribution event in Yemen's capital, Sanaa on Thursday, according to the Houthi-run health authority, reported ChinaDaily.com.cn.

A rebel court in Yemen's insurgent-held capital has sentenced President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi to death for high treason in absentia, the rebel news agency has said.

Yemen yesterday marked the second anniversary of a Saudi-led coalition starting air strikes against the Huthi rebels in support of Hadi's government, after the insurgents overran the capital Sanaa.

Yemen's Huthi rebels pounded an area in the southern province of Taez shortly after the start early on July 27 of a humanitarian truce declared by the Saudi-led coalition bombing the Iran-backed insurgents.

A car bombing claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group killed four people near a Shiite mosque in the rebel-controlled Yemeni capital Sanaa, the Shiite rebels said.

The Shiite militia that seized power in Sanaa said on Feb. 15 it will not cave in to "threats" after Yemen's Gulf neighbours urged the UN to act forcefully against its takeover.
      
"The Yemeni people won't cede power in the face of threats," spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam said, quoted by the official Saba news agency, which the Shiite Huthi militia now controls.
      

President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi and Yemen's powerful Shiite militia agreed Jan. 21 to end a deadly confrontation that had raised fears the impoverished but strategic country might descend into chaos.
      

Five bombs exploded on Dec. 23 in Sanaa's old quarter, where many supporters of the Shi'ite Muslim Houthi movement live, killing a member of the group and wounding another person, a senior security official said.
