Bamboo-zled: Panda surprises with birth of twins

A rare giant panda called Mei Xiang gave birth to twin cubs at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington on Aug. 22, apparently surprising delighted zoo officials who had expected just one baby.

A first tiny cub -- pink, hairless and only about the size of an adult mouse -- was born at 5:35 pm (2135 GMT) and Mei Xiang reacted by tenderly picking up the cub.

VIDEO: Divers discover four-meter large squid egg mass in southwestern Turkey

A team of divers in Turkey's southwestern tourist spot of Fethiye discovered a four-meter wide gelatinous mass that could be the largest squid egg mass ever discovered, Deep Sea News reported.

Early on July 2015, a group of divers off the coast of Fethiye discovered and filmed a gelatinous mass which they were unable to identify. 

Selfie sticks banned in museums

London's National Gallery has banned selfie sticks, it said on March 11, following the lead of museums around the world alarmed by the possible hazards to visitors and artworks.

Selfie sticks, the hugely popular extending rods onto which a smartphone or camera can be fitted to provide a better angle for a self-portrait, are classed as tripods under the National Gallery's rules.

This is the last week to catch Ara Güler’s never-before-seen works, on display at the Smithsonian in Washington DC since the end of last year Ara Güler is known as one of Turkey’s most prominent photojournalist and since Dec. 21 last year his never-before-seen works have been on display at the Smithsonian, in Washington D.C.
