The Serbian capital's new mayor will have to be elected by the Assembly within the following 30 days.
Local elections were held in Belgrade on March 4, when the list of President Aleksandar Vucic's ruling SNS party won 44.99 percent of the vote, and 64 seats in the City Assembly - an absolute majority.

According to the media, the Serbian president "received such an offer" from diplomats in Berlin, Paris, London, and Washington - while this has been "confirmed to him" these last days during the meetings in New York City.

Vucic "doesn't know" about SNS symbols at death camp site
Aleksandar Vucic has commented on media reports that an office of his ruling SNS party office had been open at the location of the Staro Sajmiste camp.
Speaking in Davos on Friday, the Serbian president said he "did not know what this was about" and had "not seen it."
"If anyone has done anything wrong, we will apologize," Vucic said.

Cars belonging to policemen, ruling party officials torched
According to eyewitnesses cited by the newspaper, firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the flames "within several dozen seconds" - yet the car burned down completely.
The motives behind the incident are still unknown. Another car, whose owner is currently not known, was torched in Novi Sad on Tuesday morning, Blic said.

Vucic said his intention was "to finish my job in this office" needed for Serbia to join the EU.
"Am I going to be the president in 2025? I'm not," he said, "putting the chance of stepping aside at 99 percent," Bloomberg is reporting.
"My idea is to finish my job in this office in the next four and half years and that's it," Vucic said.
Poll: Ruling SNS strong in Belgrade; 38% back EU membership
The poll, presented on December 6, also showed that the ruling coalition led by President Aleksandar Vucic's SNS party - without the Socialists (SPS) - would win 39 percent of the vote.
If the SPS participated alone, it could count on 5.9 percent, according to the survey.
