Syria condemns Turkey 'cross-border shelling'

Syria's government has condemned alleged cross-border shelling by Turkish forces on Feb. 1 as a "blatant breach of international law", state media reported.
 
Late on Feb. 1, state news agency SANA quoted a source in the Syrian foreign ministry as condemning the reported artillery fire into northern Latakia province.
 

Syria army seizes key rebel-held town in Latakia: State TV

Syrian regime forces on Jan. 24 overran the last major rebel-held town in the coastal Latakia province, a stronghold of President Bashar al-Assad, state television reported.
 
Citing a military source, state television said Syria's "armed forces, in coordination with the popular defence (militia), seized control of the town of Rabia."  

Damascus says ready for talks, wants list of 'terrorist groups'

Syria's government told a U.N. envoy on Jan. 9 it was ready to participate in Geneva peace talks later this month but said officials wanted to know who would take part from the opposition. 

Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, who met U.N. envoy Staffan de Mistura in Damascus, also demanded a list of groups that would be classified as terrorist, state media reported. 

Syria accuses US coalition of attacking army camp, Washington denies

Syria's government said the U.S.-led military coalition had carried out a deadly air strike on a Syrian army camp, but officials from the U.S-led alliance said the report was false. 

Syria said four coalition jets killed three soldiers and wounded 13 in the eastern Deir al-Zor province on Dec. 6 evening, calling it an act of aggression, the first time it has made such an accusation. 

Turkey strikes Kurdish PYD in Syria twice: Turkish PM

The Turkish army has hit the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in northern Syria twice for violating the red line Turkey has imposed on the western part of the Euphrates River, the Turkish prime minister has said. 

"We said: 'The PYD will not pass to the west of the Euphrates. We'll hit them if they do.' And we hit them twice.
