Round 2 of ND leadership elections: Mitsotakis vs. Meimarakis
Just a few hours before the second round of elections for the new leadership of New Democracy, the two candidates, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Vangelis Meimarakis, talked to reporters referring to their views and inviting the supporters of New Democracy to cast their vote on Sunday.

Lambros remains advisor of Ministry of Justice
Justice Minister Nikos Paraskevopoulos denied the claims according to which members of SYRIZA had conversations with prisoners discussing even the legislations promoted by the ministry. Mr. Paaskevopoulos even stressed that Panos Lambros was no longer employee of the Ministry of Justice.

Three more opinion polls results show cliff-hanger…
Three more opinion polls by … well-known polling companies were released on Thursday, with the first (by Metron Analysis) giving conservative New Democracy a razor-slim 0.3 percentage point lead over leftist SYRIZA, while another (by Alco) had the exact same difference, but with SYRIZA ahead – 25.3 to 25 percent for ND.
The third opinion poll (Pulse) shows a tie, at 28 percent.

Greek (public) schools open with thousands of vacant teaching spots
The first school day of the school year began in Greece on Friday, with the annual “rite” of clashing figures — between unionists and the education ministry — on how many teaching spots are unfilled vying for headlines from upcoming elections. Unionists pointed to 25,000 vacant spots, while the caretaker ministry leadership cited 7,000.

Popular Unity candidate says SYRIZA New Democracy exactly the same
One might disagree with his political analysis and views, but it has to be acknowledged that he has been consistent in his opinions all along. In an interview to Greek state TV ERT, Monday, Kostas Lapavistas, member and candidate of the SYRIZA-break away party Popular Unity, ‘warned’ the Greek people to expect ‘monstrous’ political collaborations after the September 20 elections.
