Carmakers dominate Turkey's top exporters list
Accounting for half of the top 10 companies, automotive firms have dominated Turkey's list of largest exporters, the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) announced on Sept. 18.
Ford was named Turkey's largest exporter in 2020, followed by Toyota Engine Manufacturing Turkey and Oyak Renault.

Ponzi scheme smuggles $7 mln in cash in 17 parcels
The members of a Turkish Ponzi scheme, which is believed to have collected 639 million Turkish Liras ($76 million) from some 13,000 people, have confessed to carrying millions in cash with parcels, daily Hürriyet has reported.

Turkish contractors undertook projects worth $6.5 bln in first half of 2021
The total worth of projects undertaken by Turkish contractors abroad hit $6.5 billion in the first half of 2021, according to a report released by the Turkish Contractors Association (TMB) on July 12.
Citing the Trade Ministry's data, the report said that Turkish construction firms undertook 100 projects in 33 countries by the end of June this year.
Gov’t bans import of polymer waste
Turkey on May 18 banned the import of polymer waste such as plastic bags and styrofoam cups.
A notice from the Trade Ministry published in the government's Official Gazette removed polymers from the waste products that can be imported into Turkey.

Turkey's exports hit highest January figure so far
Surpassing $15 billion last month, Turkey's exports hit the highest January figure of the country's history, the trade minister said on Feb. 2.
Turkey's exports in January rose 2.5% year-on-year, Ruhsar Pekcan said at a meeting in the capital Ankara where she revealed preliminary Trade Ministry data.
