ISIL preparing to withdraw from al-Bab: Turkish military sources

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) jihadists have started to leave their positions and withdraw from the northwestern Syrian town of al-Bab following an intense military campaign conducted by the Turkish army and Free Syrian Army (FSA) elements, military sources said on Jan. 27. 

Five Turkish soldiers killed, nine wounded in Syria's al-Bab

Five Turkish soldiers were killed and nine others were wounded in an Islamic State Iraq and Levant (ISIL) attack in the al-Bab area of northern Syria on Jan. 20, according to the Turkish army.

The attack was staged with a bomb-laden vehicle by ISIL militants at 1:40 p.m. Wounded soldiers were taken to hospital immediately, said a written statement from the Turkish Armed Forces.

British fighter jets under the U.S.-led anti-Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) coalition conducted air strikes in northern Syria on Jan. 18, the Turkish army has said, noting that it marked the first coalition air strike in a long time.
