Fenerbahçe in seventh heaven after Euroleague victory

Fenerbahçe fans and players were over the moon on May 22, cheering and dancing on the streets to celebrate the club's maiden Turkish Airlines Euroleague title.

European basketball's top club trophy remained in Istanbul after Fenerbahçe beat Greek side Olympiacos 80-64 on May 21 in the championship game in Istanbul's Sinan Erdem Dome.

Başakşehir dreams on after Adebayor hat trick

Istanbul's Başakşehir swept aside title contender Galatasaray 4-0 on April 10 to continue its pursuit of leader Beşiktaş in a match that was marked by veteran striker Emmanuel Adebayor's stunning hat trick.

Coach Abdullah Avcı's charges remained within touching distance of Beşiktaş, which beat a strong Trabzonspor 4-3 on April 8.

Beşiktaş downs Olympiacos, sets sights on Lyon in Europa League quarterfinals

Beşiktaş will take on Lyon of France in the Europa League quarterfinals after knocking out Greek team Olympiacos on March 16.

The draw on March 17 pitted the defending Turkish league champion against the French league runner-up, with the first leg scheduled to be played on April 13 in Lyon. 

Fener finds courage in 5-0 win

Istanbul's Fenerbahçe found some relief in a stunning 5-0 win against a strong Kardemir Karabükspor on Oct. 30 at home, following a historically bad start to the Turkish league.

Fener coach Dick Advocaat was happy with the win but poor attendance at the game bothered the experienced Dutchman. 

Istanbul giants keep chasing dark horse Başakşehir

The Turkish league will resume this weekend after a one-week hiatus for World Cup 2018 qualification games, with all eyes on Medipol Başakşehir, which remains at the top of the standings after six match days.

The Istanbul side, which has played more than 300 games under coach Abdullah Avcı, will take on Atiker Konyaspor, another well-disciplined side, on Oct. 16.
