Turkey will participate at the International Donors' Conference for Albania, scheduled to be held in Brussels on Feb. 17. 

Faruk Kaymakçı, Turkey's deputy foreign minister and director for EU affairs, will attend the conference, organized by the European Commission, which "aims to heal the earthquake wounds of brotherly Albania, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement. 

The Turkish Red Crescent on Feb. 16 distributed tents and heaters to Syrians fleeing clashes in and around Idlib, northwestern Syria.

The aid agency also distributed beds, blankets and food to people in the Mashhad Ruhin area, close to the Turkish border.

Turkey's eastern provinces are struggling with record colds. In some places, temperatures dropped to minus 40 degrees Celsius and snowstorms hindered the search for 13 migrants who disappeared in the Van City area, Sabah newspaper reported.

Eastern Turkey is usually the coldest part of the country in winter, but even for these areas, the reported values are unusually low.

The U.N. Security Council on Jan. 12 renewed a cross-border aid operation into Syria for another six months and only from two border crossings with Turkey in the northwest of the war-torn country not controlled by President Bashar al-Assad.

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) has set the goal of helping 25 million people in 2020, the charity's head said on Dec. 26. 

This year the charity helped 22.3 million people worldwide, Kerem Kınık said at their annual meeting in Istanbul.

The Turkish Red Crescent has arrived in Syria's recently liberated district of Tal Abyad to deliver humanitarian aid to needy people, the head of the aid agency said on Oct. 15.

Turkish Red Crescent helped a 7-year-old deaf-mute Afghan child to regain her ability after she lost hearing during an explosion near her house.

The Turkish Red Crescent volunteers harvested potatoes planted in the fields to contribute to the economy of families in Bosnia Herzegovina.

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) hopes to increase the number of female employees working for its parent group, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the head of the Turkish aid agency said on Aug. 19.

The Turkish Red Crescent has distributed meat to people in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar, Indonesia.
Murat Ellialtı, the Deputy Secretary General of the Turkish Red Crescent Society, said as many as 100 cows have been slaughtered and distributed to 3,000 heads of families.
