Tatar says next UN Cyprus talks to include Türkiye, Greece

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Ersin Tatar announced Tuesday that Türkiye and Greece would participate in the next meeting with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the Cyprus issue.

The announcement came after an informal dinner at U.N. headquarters in New York, with Nikos Christodoulides, leader of the Greek Cypriot administration.

Majority of Turkish Cypriots want solution to Cyprus issue, survey finds

Three out of five Turkish Cypriots are in favor of a solution to the long-running Cyprus dispute, a recent survey by the Center for Migration, Identity and Rights Studies (CMIRS) based in Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus has indicated.

Of the 500 participants, 59% favored a settlement, while 40.9% opposed it.

Tatar demands ‘sovereignty’ recognition ahead of meeting with Christodoulides

Turkish-Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar stated on Monday that the "sovereignty" of Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus should be recognized for any negotiations to proceed.

His statement came ahead of an informal dinner with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, scheduled to take place in New York on Tuesday at the invitation of U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
