Commissioner Maria Gabriel is launching a project to build a Center for Excellence in Big Data, according to the European Commission press center.

Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" officially launched its admissions campaign. From February 18, Monday, applications are accepted to attend admission exams to enter the university.

Exam sessions this year are two. The first one will be from 24 March to 28 April 2019 and the second from 26 May to 23 June.

The new academic year at the oldest university in Bulgaria, Sofia University, was officially opened on 1stof October. This academic year is special for the University of Sofia because it marks 130 years since its establishment.

Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski "occupies 855th place in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) for 2017/2018. This was announced by the press center of the university.

10 years after its launch, the University TV "Alma Mater" is about to become a true TV network dedicated exclusively to education and culture, reports sega. 

The submission of applications for the Sofia University "Kliment Ohridski" started yesterday, BNT reported. This year, Alma Mater has eight new specialties, including Computer Engineering and African Studies in English. Only 5 out of a total of 117 majors can not be entered with the grades after the 12th grade.

The government has never intended to deprive the University of Sofia of buildings. This became clear after a meeting between the leadership of Alma Mater and ministers Krassimir Valchev and Vladislav Goranov. Educational Minister Valchev was happy that there was a good dialogue. On Wednesday, Sofia University will receive a new building.

His Holiness Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyt has welcomed representatives of the Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad, whose aim is preserving the national identity of Bulgarians abroad, Standard New reported.

It was pointed out that the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has always actively supported the association.

Romanian actor and director Ion Caramitru will host in Sofia the conference titled "Limits of Expectation", as Romania's representative in the Picnic of Freedom in Sofia, an event dedicated to commemorating 25 years since the fall of communism in Europe.
