Nikolic expects new context in relations with US

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic told US Ambassador Kyle Scott Tuesday he understood the US was unconditionally backing something it had directly helped to create and that Washington had caused much trouble by implementing its own will, but expressed the hope such conduct would stop when the new US administration took office.

Russia Plans to Expel 35 US Diplomats in Reciprocal Move

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has proposed to President Vladimir Putin the expulsion of 35 US diplomats posted to the country in retaliation to an earlier move by the US administration.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry has downplayed again allegations that Moscow orchestrated cyber attacks aimed at intefering in the US election, saying the claims "do not match reality".

The US has expelled 35 Russian diplomats in retaliation to the cyber attacks Washington claims were aimed at influencing the presidential election.

The diplomats at Russia's Embassy to Washington have been given 72 hours to leave after being declared "persona non grata."

The latest wave of sanctions includes entities and individuals in the Russian intelligence.
