An indictment into the July 2016 coup attempt has revealed that İlhan Talu, one of the high-ranking alleged putschist soldiers, allegedly ordered mobilization earlier than planned after seeing National Intelligence Agency (MİT) chief Hakan Fidan speaking with the top brass. 

Lt.-Gen. Talu was detained on July 16, 2016, one day after the failed coup.

Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) is working on a system that will impose a single parliament, a presidential system and a two-stage election system on the country, the party's constitution commission head, Mustafa Şentop, has said. 

South Africa's ruling African National Congress (ANC) said late on Sept. 5 that it looked forward to deepening trade and bilateral relations with Turkey.

ANC Treasurer-General Zweli Mkhize said South Africa and Turkey shared a lot in common and should work together for their development.
