Deputy Şaban Dişli appointed chief advisor to AKP headquarters

Ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) lawmaker Şaban Dişli, a member of the party's Central Decision and Executive Board, has been assigned as a chief adviser to the AKP headquarters. 

Dişli's brother, former general Mehmet Dişli, is one the key suspects of the July 15 coup attempt.

One of the top suspects in the key case on the July 2016 coup attempt, former Major General Mehmet Dişli, has said he was following the orders of Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar during events at the Akıncı Air Base, considered to be the command center of the coup. 

Former AKP lawmaker detained over Gülen links

Police forces detained a former lawmaker from Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Ahmet Tevfik Uzun, early on May 8 in the southern province of Mersin over suspected links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

Teams carried out searches in Uzun's house and office, during which documents were seized.

Summaries of proceedings seek to lift immunities of CHP head, AKP official

The Turkish Prime Ministry has sent parliament summaries of proceedings to lift the immunities of 18 lawmakers, including main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy leader Şaban Dişli, Turkish media outlets reported on May 2. 

Mysterious incident on July 16

One of the events that still maintains its "mystery" about the coup attempt perpetrated by the Fethullahist gang is what Mehmet Dişli, with his major general rank, experienced on the day of July 16, 2016, when he was on duty at the Chief of Staff headquarters. He is also the brother of ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy chair Şaban Dişli.
