Assets linked to the criminal organization led by controversial televangelist Adnan Oktar have been transferred to Türkiye's state treasury following a final court ruling.

An Istanbul court's verdict on the organization regarding 215 defendants — including 72 currently imprisoned — was finalized on Nov. 16, 2022.

Demolition actions have commenced on an illegal structure in Istanbul's Üsküdar district, where unauthorized construction was halted last month.

The area, overlooking the Bosphorus in the Vaniköy neighborhood, has been under scrutiny following the discovery of building violations.

Turkish cult leader and controversial Islamic author Adnan Oktar was sentenced to more than 1,074 years in prison on Jan. 11, Demirören News Agency said.

Oktar, also known as Harun Yahya, had been tried with 235 other defendants in an Istanbul court.

The verdict and sentence came after a previous trial that began in September 2019 after Oktar was arrested in July 2018.
