As David Popovici has accelerated past his older rivals in the pool this summer, it seemed inevitable that the skinny 17-year-old would threaten world records, the only surprise when he broke the 100m freestyle mark in Rome on Aug. 13 was that he got so quick so fast.

Romania's full Olympic lineup presented on TV
The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) presented on Sunday evening Team Romania for the Tokyo Olympic Games (July 23 - August 8) which includes 100 athletes - 45 women and 55 in men - who will be competing in 17 sports.

Swimmer David Popovici breaks world junior record in men's 200 m freestyle
Romanian swimmer David Popovici broke the world junior record in the men's 200 m freestyle on Friday, at the 2021 European Junior Swimming Championships in Rome, securing a place in the final of the event. After taking down the world record in the 100 m freestyle twice in just a few days, the athlete trained by coach Adrian Radulescu clocked 1:45.26 in the 200 m freestyle semifinals.
Eugen Tomac elected PMP chairman; Dorel Onaca is secretary-general
Deputy Eugen Tomac was voted on Sunday at the Congress of the People's Movement Party (PMP) to be the party's chairman, while Dorel Onaca was elected secretary-general.
