Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, have engaged in intense talks a few days after a fatal attack on Turkish troops in Syria. 

An air strike "thought to have been carried" out by Syrian government forces killed three Turkish soldiers and wounded 10 others, one of them seriously, early on Nov. 24, the Turkish Armed Forces has announced.

Turkish Air Forces warplanes hit the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in northern Syria on Nov. 20 after a one-week hiatus, one day after a Turkish soldier was killed in an ISIL attack in the region.

Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters have launched a new phase in the Euphrates Shield Operation to liberate Aleppo's northeastern district of al-Bab from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Ankara has vowed to support the Free Syrian Army (FSA) with regards to the Turkey-backed rebels' efforts to clear their own lands in northern Syria of both jihadists and Syrian Kurdish forces. 

The next target within the scope of the anti-Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) operation, which Turkey launched around one month ago, is Syria's al-Bab, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Sept. 19. 

At least 44 members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were killed in clashes with Kurdish troops in Syria on Thursday, a monitoring group said.
      
Thirty of the jihadists were killed fighting against members of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in the village of Qassiab in Hasakeh province, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
