Al Shabaab attacks UN compound in Somalia's capital

A heavily fortified compound in Somalia's capital Mogadishu was attacked by al Shabaab militants on March 18, local media reported.
Local broadcaster Dalsan Radio said mortar shells were fired at the Halane compound, which houses U.N., EU, and African Union facilities, as well as embassies of countries including the U.S. and U.K.

Car bomb targeting UAE officials kills 3 Somali soldiers in Mogadishu

At least three people were killed when a car bomb targeting military trainers from the United Arab Emirates hit their convoy in the Somali capital but the officials were unharmed, police said on June 24.

The Islamist militant group al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack and said it carried out the attack and "inflicted casualties" without giving details. 

Suicide car bomb targets Mogadishu hotel as Turks meet on eve of Erdo?an visit

A suicide car bomb exploded at the gate of a Mogadishu hotel where Turkish delegates were meeting on Jan. 22, a day ahead of a visit by President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an to the Somali capital.
 
"The Turkish delegates are safe inside the hotel," police captain Farah Nur told Reuters. "The hotel was busy."

Gunmen killed at least 29 people in raids on two separate areas on the Kenyan coast, the interior ministry said on July 6.
   
The Somali Islamist militant group al Shabaab, which attacked the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi last September, said it had staged an attack on Saturday evening in the coastal area.
