Olympiakos and PAOK extended their perfect record at the start of the Super League with three wins out of three, this time away from home over the weekend, to lead the table with nine points.

On Saturday Olympiakos overcome host Lamia with a 3-0 score, goals coming from Ayoub El Kaabi (twice) and Gelson Martins.

Olympiakos made an emphatic visit to Tripoli on Wednesday to trounce host Astreras, while rival PAOK suffered a reverse at Atromitos on Thursday in one of the best matches so far this season in the Super League.

AEK wasted the chance of capitalizing fully on the trouble PAOK has put itself into with the canceled match against Olympiakos, as the Yellows could only draw 1-1 at Peristeri with high-flying Atromitos on Monday.

An Egyptian soccer player at top-flight club Atromitos was attacked by two unknown assailants wielding a gun and a knife on Tuesday night in Athens district of Kesariani.

Police said the two suspects approached Amr Warda as he was about to enter his car.

Olympiakos took advantage of AEK's slip-up at home to finish first at the halfway point of the Super League season and earn the unofficial title of the winter champion.

AEK was held to a goalless draw at home on Saturday by Apollon, whose new manager Giorgos Paraschos managed to organize the visitors' defense well enough to frustrate the Yellows at the Olympic Stadium.

BASKETBALL: Panathinaikos won Game 3 of the Basket League semifinal series beating AEK 81-72 at home on Thursday, despite trailing 52-44 early in the second half. Game 4 will take place with AEK as the host on Monday.

A beer can thrown at PAOK manager Vladan Ivic has also thrown the Super League play-offs into turmoil, as the Panathinaikos fan who struck the Serb coach on his head will see his team pay dearly and PAOK win a game it might have lost before it got abandoned at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium on Wednesday.

The regular season of the Super League ended on Sunday, and with Olympiakos already crowned champion and Levadiakos and Veria going down, the only thing left to settle was the points with which PAOK, Panathinaikos, AEK and Panionios would enter the Champions League qualification play-offs. Sunday's victories of PAOK and Panathinaikos gave them extra advantage over the other two teams.

Olympiakos sealed its seventh Super League title in a row on Sunday, pending a court decision that might turn things around, while Levadiakos and Veria waved goodbye to the top flight with one game left to play.
