North Macedonia’s Jewish Deportation Commemoration Hits Raw Nerve in Bulgaria

As North Macedonia over the weekend commemorated the 80th anniversary of the deportation of 7,144 Macedonian Jews to Nazi death camps, done when most of its territory was under Bulgarian occupation, some in Bulgaria took offence at the language used.

North Macedonia Comes out with Protest Note in Response to Bulgarian MEP Outburst

The Macedonain Foreign Affairs Ministry and the VMRO-DPMNE party issued a protest to Bulgaria after the latest nationalist outburst from Bulgarian member of the European Parliament Angel Dzhambazki. Dzhambazki, who is part of the VMRO-BND party which is in Prime Minister Borisov's coalition, threatened Macedonia with a "dreadful end" if it "continues to reject its Bulgarian character".
